As a result of the change of the postage stamp contract of 1st April, 1930, the Department required a new series of stamps of the higher denominations. The policy of depicting representative phases of the character of Canada was continued in the designs for this series.
Grand Pré, NS
View of Grand Pré, Nova Scotia the home of Evangeline, heroine of Longfellow's famous poem of that name. The view is a composite one, taken from photographs, and shows the museum, statue of Evangeline, and the ancient well, grouped together for pictorial effect. The grounds and buildings are maintained as a national shrine of Acadian relics.
