The date of this stamp is next to the 4c.
The designer's initial is to the right of the bighorn sheep. The initial H belongs to Emanuel Otto Hahn.
The 4¢ postage stamp displaying the Bighorn Sheep was designed by Emanuel Hahn, R.C.A., S.S.C., a sculptor of Toronto, Ontario and was engraved and printed by the Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited, Ottawa. Wildlife that was once so abundant to our forefathers is being depleted at an alarming rate because of a lack of appreciation. It is the Department's hope that the wildlife series of postage stamp issues will emphasize to all Canadians the importance of securing and restoring the wildlife resources of Canada, not only for their considerable economic value but also because they are a constant source of pleasure to thousands in every walk of life.
