* Notes about these prices:
- They are not based on catalogue values but on current dealer and auction listings. The reason for this is that catalogues tend to over-value stamps.
- They are average prices. The actual value of your stamp may be slightly above or below the listed value, depending on the overall condition of your stamp. Use these prices as a guide to determine the approximate value of your stamps.

Dogs are affectionately known as "man's best friend". Ask any dog lover, particularly members of the Canadian Kennel Club, which is celebrating its centennial this year. In recognition of this milestone, these stamps feature four dogs breeds native to Canada. Because of their good temperments and fine skills, these breeds may be working dogs or pets. This small dog was developed in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. By "tolling" or playing along the shore, it entices curious game birds to approach. After a hunter shoots the birds, the toller efficiently retrieves them. The illustrations appearing on these four stamps are the work of Mia Lane of Bath, Ontario. Lane is both a dog breeder and an accomplished artist. Each dog is shown in a setting typical of its place of origin in Canada. David Nethercott of Ottawa provided the layout and typography for the stamps.
