Canada's national flag adorns this year's new domestic rate stamp issue from Canada Post Corporation. Now 30 years old, the flag's red and white colours are an enduring symbol of strength and purity. Historically, these colours have traditional links with Canada's countries, France and England. Red was the colour of St. George's Cross, the oriflamme of Louis VI and the banners of the French Crusaders of 1189. White was the colour given the English Crusaders, the field of St. George's Cross and the banners borne by Joan of Arc.
