To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Canada Post has issued a single domestic rate stamp.
Saint Mary's University
Founded in 1802, Saint Mary's University is the oldest English-speaking Roman Catholic initiated university in Canada. Today, Saint Mary's has evolved into a complex urban university offering a full range of undergraduate degrees and elected graduate studies. More than 7,100 full- and part-time students attend Saint Mary's University.
One in a series featuring Canadian universities, the Saint Mary's University stamp was designed by Semaphor Design Company Inc. of Halifax, with Steven Slipp as design principal. Featured is an aerial view of the campus with the McNally Building and the Science Building in the foreground. The vignette shows a student at the telescope in the Reverend M.W. Burke-Gaffney Observatory.
