About Stamp

Enjoy Canada’s scenic beauty with this stamp featuring a spectacular light show in the skies above Nunavut’s Arctic Bay.

A vibrant, traditional community on the northwest corner of Baffin Island, this harbour hamlet on Adams Sound is surrounded by hills, leading to its Inuktitut name, Ikpiarjuk, meaning ‘the pocket.’ The area is home to many species of High Arctic birds, as well as narwhals and bowhead whales.

This stamp is one of nine definitive stamps from the first issue in a multi-year series featuring must-see Canadian destinations.

About Stamp Series

There are so many beautiful places to see across Canada, it’s a constant temptation to pack your bags, hit the road and explore this fabulous country from one end to the other. If that’s not practical, this new definitive stamp series – From Far and Wide – promises to satisfy even the most restless of armchair travelers and inspire all of us to see more of this land first-hand.

According to stamp designer Stéphane Huot, it’s a privilege to work on a stamp series over an extended period of time. He adds, “The challenge is to establish a design platform that can be repeated, but that can also evolve. In the ‘From Far and Wide’ series, the evolution is the result of the images chosen for the background of the souvenir sheet and a strong and distinctive color scheme that establishes the tone for the series. Beauty is found in the series’ continuity, while a fresh colour palate and eye-popping new images make each issue visually unique."
