  • They are not based on catalogue values but on current dealer and auction listings. The reason for this is that catalogues tend to over-value stamps.

About Stamp

In 1929 the Aird Royal Commission recommended that the Canadian broadcasting industry operate as a public utility and that a nationally owned broadcasting company be formed. The federal government had established the Commission in 1928 to examine American domination of Canadian radio and other broadcasting problems. As a result, the R.B. Benett government created the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission (CRBC) in 1932, to promote Canadian control of broadcasting, exploit radio's educational potential, strengthen national unity, and fashion a national consciousness. The Mackenzie King government replaced the faltering CRBC with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in 1936. Today, 50 years later, anyone who owns a radio or television can judge the Corporation's success in fulfilling an ever more challenging mandate. Raymond Mah and Gus Tsetsekas of Vancouver designed the stamp, which features the CBC logo in five different colours over a stylized map of Canada. The computer-generated image is the work of Vertigo Computer Imagery, also based in Vancouver.
