* Notes about these prices:
- They are currently in beta mode, meaning that they should not be relied upon yet as a source of truth and could change frequently. Please notify PSG if you come across values that do not make sense.
- They are not based on catalogue values but on current dealer and auction listings. The reason for this is that catalogues tend to over-value stamps.
- They are average prices and might not be fully accurate. The actual value of your stamp may be slightly above or below the listed value, depending on the overall condition of your stamp.
Canada Post Corporation's 1989 Christmas stamps feature winter landscapes by four Canadian painters. Group of Seven member Lawren S. Harris' "Snow II" (1915) from the National Gallery of Canada appears on the 44-cent U.S. rate stamp. The second of a series of seven paintings, this oil-on-canvas is thought to be a Northern Ontario scene. This stamp will be features on the World Stamp Expo '89 souvenir show card, and will be offered in handy packs of five stamps as well. Ottawa's David Nethercott and Viviane Warburton developed the design concepts for these four stamps showing Canadian winter landscapes. Through their use of decorative borders and a seasonal message, the stamps suggest the look of elegant Christmas cards. Nethercott and Warburton's past works for Canada Post Corporation include the typographical design for the Dogs of Canada stamps and the design of the Frances Ann Hopkins stamp. Both issues appeared in 1988.
Based on a painting by Lawren Stewart Harris.
