About Stamp

Joining in the celebrations to mark Canada's 125th birthday, Canada Post Corporation is issuing a souvenir sheet of 12 stamps on June 29 depicting works of art by Canadian painters. To highlight this special historic occasion, these are the first diamond-shaped stamps to be issued by the Corporation. The theme of the stamps issued on this historic anniversary can be found in our national anthem: "Our home and native land/Terre de nos aïeux." Each painting depicts a "people place" locality associated with its province or territory in an upbeat atmosphere. Vancouver native E.J. Hughes is a realist landscape artist. "Christie Passage, Hurst Island, B.C." is a typical example of his renderings of nature coastal scenes of his native province. With this historic stamp issue, Canada Post Corporation is proud to participate in this nation's most important anniversary since our Centennial in 1967.
