About Stamp

Joining in the celebrations to mark Canada's 125th birthday, Canada Post Corporation is issuing a souvenir sheet of 12 stamps on June 29 depicting works of art by Canadian painters. To highlight this special historic occasion, these are the first diamond-shaped stamps to be issued by the Corporation. The theme of the stamps issued on this historic anniversary can be found in our national anthem: "Our home and native land/Terre de nos aïeux." Each painting depicts a "people place" locality associated with its province or territory in an upbeat atmosphere. Finally, Yukon artist Ted Harrison adds his children's illustration techniques with "Town Life", a colourful childlike rendition of a northern town. With this historic stamp issue, Canada Post Corporation is proud to participate in this nation's most important anniversary since our Centennial in 1967.

Creators

Based on a painting by Edward Hardy (Ted) Harrison. Designed by Pierre-Yves Pelletier.
