About Stamp

Three new stamps designs have been added to the popular Fruit Trees of Canada series. Pears are Canada's second most important fruit crop, with the Bartlett pear ranking number one. It adapts easily to various soils and climates, bearing fruit annually despite frost. Of excellent quality, it is preferred pear for canning. The Bartlett pear was discovered in England and brought to Massachusetts around 1800. In 1817, the original farm was bought by Enoch Bartlett, and not knowing the pear's name, gave it his own.
