  • They are currently in beta mode, meaning that they should not be relied upon yet as a source of truth and could change frequently. Please notify PSG if you come across values that do not make sense.
  • They are not based on catalogue values but on current dealer and auction listings. The reason for this is that catalogues tend to over-value stamps.

About Stamp

Canada Post Corporation's final set in its Christmas series honouring Yuletide personages from around the world makes its début on November 4, 1993. The 38¢ Greet More stamp depicts the North American Santa Claus, while other Yuletide gift-givers include Swiety Mikolaj and Gwiazdka, from Poland (43¢ domestic rate), Russia's Ded Moroz (49¢ USA rate) and Father Christmas from Australia (86¢ international rate). Russian children dream about Ded Moroz, which translates into Grandfather Frost. Unlike many Christmas personages who are characterizations of St. Nicholas, the Russians "Santa" comes from a pagan and secular legend. His red costume is beautifully decorated with stars. He travels in a traditional Russian sleigh called a "troika" which is horse-drawn rather than reindeer-driven. He is known to appear on New Year's Day, as well as January 7, the date of the Orthodox Christmas.
