The stamp is rectangular in shape, about 7/8 inch wide and 3/4 inch high. The subject is a portrait of Franklin looking to the left, printed in black ink. The border design is red. Triangular ornaments appear in the two upper corners, and the words "U. S. postage" are printed in Roman capital letters in a curved line above the head of Franklin. The word "Dollars" is printed in a straight line of Roman capital letters below the portrait, and the numeral "2" appears within ovals in both lower corners.
