The central design of the 2-cent stamp represents the landing of the Walloons at Albany, N.Y. The surrounding design is the same as the 1-cent stamp, with the necessary change of numerals representing the denomination, and with the word "Cents" instead of "Cent."
This series of postage stamps was issued to commemorate the three hundredth anniversary of the settling of Walloons in New Netherlands, now the State of New York, in 1624. The stamps were first placed on sale May 1, 1924, at Washington, D.C., and the following additional post offices: Jacksonville, Fla., Mayport, Fla., Albany, N.Y., New Rochelle, N.Y., New York, N.Y., Allentown, Pa., Lancaster, Pa., Philadelphia, Pa., Reading, Pa., and Charleston, S.C.
