Printed by the rotary process and arranged horizontally.
The 1-cent stamp, printed in green, has for its central design a portrait of Franklin Delano Roosevelt to the left with the Roosevelt home at Hyde Park comprising the right and central positions of the stamp. At the top and centered slightly to the right are the words, "U. S. Postage," in stylized script. At the bottom and beneath the portrait appear the dates, "1882," and "1945," in white Gothic, with the name, "Roosevelt," centered below the dates in the same style lettering. The words, "Hyde Park," appear in dark Gothic below the vignette and in the lower right corner the denomination, "1¢," in white Gothic.
This stamp was first offered for sale at Hyde Park, N.Y., on July 26, 1945.
This series of four stamps was issued in tribute to the late President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
