Printed on the Cottrell presses in blue and issued in sheets of 70.
The 4-cent Ignacy Jan Paderewski "Champion of Liberty" stamp honors the world-renowned Polish patriot and musician. Measuring 0.85 by 0.98 inches, it was arranged vertically and printed on the Cottrell presses in blue. The stamp was issued in sheets of 70 and features a medallion with a likeness of Paderewski based on a photograph by Taylor & Dull of New York, derived from a painting by noted Polish artist Tade Styka. This stamp was first placed on sale at Washington, D.C., on October 8, 1960.
This series was issued to highlight individuals who are champions of liberty.
