The Department issued the 4-cent Brien McMahon commemorative stamp through the Norwalk, Conn., post office, on July 28, 1962. The stamp was in tribute to the late Connecticut Senator for his role in opening the way to peaceful uses of atomic energy.
Reproduced on the stamp is a portrait of Senator McMahon, based on a photograph by Glogau of Washington, D.C., facing the artist's rendition of the atomic symbol.
