The Department issued a 4-cent stamp portraying Abraham Lincoln, the first in the new "Prominent Americans" series of regular stamps, through the New York, N.Y., post office on November 19, 1965.
The stamp was designed by Bill Hyde of San Francisco, who based the portrait on a Mathew Brady photograph.
