The Post Office Department issued a 5-cent stamp commemorating the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, first placed on sale at Washington, D.C., on August 29, 1966.
The stamp, designed by Stella Grafakos of New York City, portrays a World War I Marine, a World War II flyer, a frogman, and today's combat Marine. A fifth Marine in colonial uniform stands at the rear of the procession symbolizing creation of the Marines in 1775.
